As much as we all want to believe it, wine and chocolate are not the only components to a long and healthy life. I remember the first time I heard "OMG, I need to lose weight" and "after this McDonald's I'm gunna eat clean" come out my mouth. It was about 83 years ago and back when if I was that size now, I'd be totally content. I have, however, finally decided to sort my life out and actually do it. In this weeks post you'll find out all about my health & fitness regime; how doable it is, what actually works and what'll make you feel fabulous.
THE GYM
I get how hard it is to get into an exercise routine. Trust me. But I'm two weeks in now and I have to say, I'm kind of obsessed. Not only is the gym amazing for your health & fitness, it can be a great stress reliever, reduce tensions in both the body and mind, plus I can already feel my general mood and quality of sleep improving because of it. Actually going to the gym rather than just going for a run means you have endless options of exercises and machines so you'll never get bored. I also love having the support and motivation from the PTs and other gym-goers. The gym has become a sanctuary for me, and now I love switching off from everything else and just focus on workin' that booty. I can already see and feel my improvement on muscle strength, balance and flexibility. Love it!
KNOWING WHAT NOT TO EAT
For me, my main issue is eating way too much crap. I just know I wouldn't be able to follow a strict meal plan, so to start with I'm just cutting out slash really limiting the foods that are detrimental to my health. Recent weight gain has sparked this sudden surge of motivation and that was all down to Gregg's Caramel Shortbread (other brands are available). These are out the window and God damn it so is my happiness. But as well as those, I have also cut out all my unhealthy carbs. I don't eat bread nor pasta, and I only eat brown rice and sweet potato. We tend to get half our calories from carbs so this allows me to get more calories from healthier and more nutritional things. Soda and sugar are out my life fo' good, and that in itself surprisingly gives me even more energy than before. SAY NO to yawning throughout the entire day.
FAT BURNING SUPPLIMENTS
I take the FIT AFFINITY Lean Fat Burner for Her capsules. Naturally I have an relatively slow metabolism so I do find it a bit more difficult to burn off my calories. I now incorporate these boosters into every meal I eat.
My favourite three are: CHILLI - GREEN TEA - MUSHROOMS.
Luckily I love the taste of haaaat chilli. I always make sure my dishes are as spicy as possible. As for green tea, I drink it cold because I think it tastes yummier, and it wakes me up if I'm feeling sleepy during the day. A vitamin D deficiency can cause your metabolism to slow right down, so mushrooms make sure I have all the vitamin D that I need. The faster my metabolism is, the more calories I burn when resting! #lifegoals
WAIST TRAINER
I wear mine all day err' day. I purchase my waist trainers from Waist ShaperZ and currently I am using the 'Steel Boned Nude Latex Waist Trainer'. This lil' thang clinches, tightens, tones and flattens my tummy while I'm out and about, working out at the gym or just chilling in bed. It creates compression in my core to stimulate thermal activity there. I instantly lose inches off my waist and my favourite thing about it is how much it improves my posture. It mobilises my fat cells and stimulates my perspiration, so I'm totally in love with it and I don't know what I'd do without it. It genuinely takes inches off my waist, short term & long term. It makes me feel so good when I work out too!
These relatively simple things really have made a huge difference to my appearance, self-esteem and lifestyle. I feel so much happier in myself as well as about myself and it's so refreshing to be able to write a detailed post about what I've been wanting to do for such a long time. I'll keep you updated!
