My Top 3 Detox Drinks That'll Make You Feel Amazing!

Detox drinks are so totally my thing and they're an easy way to make yourself feel better, especially if you've been slacking in the gym, or eating too much chocolate. These are my Top 3 Detox Drinks that'll make you feel amazing! Please always remember to drink your detox water ON TOP of your 2-3 litres per day that you should already be drinking.

The Classic Detox Water- ingredients:


SLICED CUCUMBER
LEMON JUICE
HALF A GRAPEFRUIT
WATER



Sliced Cucumber: Cucumber is a diuretic, meaning it helps reduce water retention by aiding it to be flushed away. Although seemingly counter-intuitive, drinking more water will flush away more water, as well as waste and toxins, and this remedy will trigger the kidneys to produce more urine. Not only does it contain Vitamin C (those benefits are for a whole different blog post), it contains fibre too, which will aid digestion, potentially aid weight loss, and leave you feeling a whole lot lovelier. 

Lemon Juice: This contains citric acid which aids the production of digestive juices and aids the process of digestion itself. Lemon also helps with daily gas & bloating by cleansing the colon whilst boosting nutrients in there, and eliminating toxins from your bowels (gross!)

Grapefruit: Grapefruit lowers your insulin levels slightly, and that then prevents the body storing as much sugar as fat. Lower insulin levels are also known for curbing appetite (YAY!!). It is also full of fibre as has minimal calories, so it's perfect to snack on as well as putting it in your water! 

Overall the Classic Detox Water is perfect for getting rid of all those nasties in your body, as well as helping you slim down. Water retention always leaves me feeling crappy about myself, as well as making me perform worser in the gym, neither of which make me the happiest bunny in the world. I try to incorporate this into my diet at LEAST three times a week, depending on other factors such as my diet and exercise.

The Jillian Michael's Detox Water- ingredients: 


DISTILLED WATER
PURE CRANBERRY JUICE
DANDILION ROOT TEA
LEMON JUICE



Distilled Water: The reason for using distilled water with this detox is because during the distillation of the water, the toxins are removed. By using this water, the excess toxins have already been taken out, and what you're trying to get rid of isn't automatically being put back into your system.

*Please note, drinking too much distilled water can affect your Ph balance, so always drink spring water when not detoxing. Our bodies are naturally very acidic, and spring water is alkalised, so this helps keep it balanced.*

Pure Cranberry Juice: This will help shed excess water, too. Cranberry juice contains many vitamins and minerals that are essential for living a healthy life. Due to the acidic contents in cranberry juice, too much of it can cause discomfort which passing urine, and can also damage the lining of your bladder, but when used in moderation, the acid can reduce the frequency of developing infections.  

Dandelion Root Tea: As well as working a miracle with water retention, you may also find this makes your skin glow more, and your energy levels increase. This should make it easier for you to exercise, and for longer. 

Lemon Juice: As ever, this is great at removing the toxin and waste build up, and tastes pretty yummy too!

This detox is recommended once or month, or as desired. Rather than triggering bowel movements, this is a great way to just clean out your liver and get rid of all the water weight we all have (especially woman!). The best thing about this detox drink is that you can still eat...healthily, but as normal, where as some detox drinks recommend fasting throughout. 


The Stress-Releiving Detox Water- ingredients:

Pineapple: Pineapple contains Bromelain, which is an enzyme often used in the medical world as a natural way of reducing inflammation. It is also great at getting into the bloodstream and cleaning it, breaking down horrible enzymes which are then flushed out the body. Due to it's anti-inflammatory properties, Bromelain can help treat a super huge range of things, from arthritis to allergies, thus resulting in a much easier and more comfortable life. 

Basil: This will fight all your crazy free radicals. Free radicals are basically uncharged molecules, and without turning into a chemistry geek (highly unlikely to happen to Miss Thickie over here), the uncharged molecules (the free radicals) in your system will go around searching for electrons to steal from your existing happy charged chemical structures..needy I know...thus damaging them. Free radicals are unavoidable, but can be beneficial in moderation. However to reduce the amount of unnecessary free radicals, you can avoid excess pollution and radiation whenever possible, and make sure you get a good dose of antioxidants daily. Free radicals can be detrimental to you by being a cause of premature ageing as well as other health problems. Basil is also an amazing source of magnesium which is so good for your heart. 

So the final favourite detox water of mine, for me, is the most useful. When I'm having a challenging day,  the different components of this recipe leave me feeling healthier, as well as happier, and who isn't less stressed when kicking the free radical's butts.
